This summer, the World Economic Forum’s 16th Annual Meeting of the New Champions, widely known as Summer Davos, heads to north China's Tianjin Municipality from June 24 to 26, 2025. Under the theme "Entrepreneurship in the New Era," the forum will gather more than 1,700 entrepreneurs, policymakers and influencers from over 90 countries and regions to explore how innovation can reignite global growth.
Organizers have outlined five core focus areas: deciphering the world economy, an outlook on China's development path, industries facing major disruption, investing in people and the planet, and breakthroughs in new energy and materials. Each track promises data-driven insights, hands-on case studies and strategic debates.
At a press briefing in Beijing, Chen Shuai from the National Development and Reform Commission emphasized that Summer Davos will reaffirm the Chinese mainland’s commitment to high-level opening up, sharing the opportunities of its development with the global community.
Tianjin Vice-Mayor Li Wenhai invited participants to experience the city’s technological advancements and emerging industries firsthand. “This meeting will deliver valuable insights and new momentum to boost the global economy toward stable growth,” he said.
Asia currently drives 60 percent of global economic expansion, with China accounting for half of that contribution, noted Gim Huay Neo, managing director of the World Economic Forum. She highlighted that Summer Davos offers a front-row seat to the trends shaping China and the broader region.
More than 40 sessions, including the opening plenary, will be livestreamed, and delegates can look forward to the release of key reports like the 2025 Energy Transition Index and the Top 10 Emerging Technologies.
Since its launch in 2007, the Annual Meeting of the New Champions has become a springboard for the next generation of fast-growing enterprises—dubbed "new champions"—to tackle pressing economic challenges and chart sustainable, inclusive growth.
As entrepreneurship and emerging technologies converge on the global stage in Tianjin, young leaders, entrepreneurs and changemakers will find fresh perspectives and actionable strategies to shape the future.
