Slovenia Unveils Electric Planes & Foldable Skis at Ningbo Expo

At the 4th China-Central and Eastern European Countries Expo in Ningbo, on the Chinese mainland, Slovenia took center stage with a glimpse into tomorrow’s green tech.

Slovenian officials Meira Hot, vice-president of the Slovenian National Assembly, and State Secretary Matevž Frangež partnered with CGTN’s Cui Yingjie to unveil a fleet of electric aircraft prototypes flowing off local runways. Powered by advanced batteries, these planes promise up to 300 km of range on a single charge, slashing carbon emissions by nearly 90% compared with traditional regional jets.

But the showstopper might just be the foldable ski system engineered for urban adventurers. Designed to collapse into a backpack, these skis feature integrated sensors and lightweight composites, making spontaneous ski trips a breeze while keeping your carbon footprint on ice.

The expo also highlighted a suite of eco-friendly innovations from Slovenia’s rising startup ecosystem, including hydrogen fuel–cell drones, solar-powered mobile shelters for digital nomads and biodegradable building materials.

“We believe that combining innovation and sustainability will power the next era of travel,” said Meira Hot.

“Our electric aircraft cuts emissions by up to 90% and offers a new path for regional flights,” added State Secretary Matevž Frangež.

For young global citizens and tech enthusiasts alike, Slovenia’s showcase is more than a display—it’s a roadmap to a cleaner tomorrow. From sports gear that folds down to flights that leave no smoke trail, the future is here, and it’s green.
