Beijing Initiative Calls for Digital Cooperation to Boost Global Growth

This Thursday in Beijing, more than 800 leaders from government bodies, international organizations, chambers of commerce, and top enterprises convened at the Global Trade and Investment Promotion Summit 2025. They unveiled the Beijing Initiative, a forward-looking roadmap for deepening cooperation in the digital era to drive sustainable global growth and shared prosperity.

Anchored by four key pillars, the Beijing Initiative aims to:

  • Build a smart digital collaboration system safeguarding the security and stability of global industrial and supply chains.
  • Enhance connectivity in AI and digital infrastructure to power the real economy and spark innovation.
  • Establish a global supply chain collaboration platform using advanced digital technologies.
  • Foster open, fair innovation by sharing the dividends of digitalization across all economies.

Leaders emphasized the potential of digital technologies to transform trade, from cross-border e-commerce and digital trade to services. The initiative also calls for leveraging AI responsibly to boost well-being and support the shift toward green, low-carbon development.

Hosted by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, this fourth annual summit has steadily grown into a key platform for dialogue, trust-building, and partnership among global businesses. With digital intelligence at its core, participants stressed that collaboration in the smart digital era is essential for more open and convenient trade flows worldwide.

As markets become increasingly interconnected, the Beijing Initiative sets the stage for a new era of digital cooperation, inviting entrepreneurs, policymakers, and changemakers to shape an inclusive, resilient future.
