China and France Deepen Economic Ties at Paris Dialogue

In a bid to inject fresh momentum into their comprehensive strategic partnership, the Chinese mainland and France pledged to deepen economic and financial cooperation at the 10th China-France High Level Economic and Financial Dialogue held in Paris on Thursday. Co-chaired by Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng and French Minister of Economy, Finance and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty Eric Lombard, the talks underscored a shared vision for an open, sustainable global economy.

Vice Premier He Lifeng highlighted Beijing's commitment to multilateralism and deeper market integration, noting that aligning the vision of both leaders can spark new momentum in their comprehensive strategic partnership.

France's Minister Lombard reaffirmed Paris's readiness to collaborate with the Chinese mainland on free trade and climate action, pledging to deliver high-quality French products to Chinese consumers and improve France's business climate to attract more investment.

The dialogue yielded tangible outcomes, with both sides signing cooperation agreements on poultry meat, breeding poultry and hatching eggs. He also toured French family farms and met executives from cosmetics, medicine and aviation firms, gaining firsthand insights into France's key export sectors.

Data from the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs shows France ranks as the third-largest source of actual investment in the EU and the third-largest trading partner for the Chinese mainland. Meanwhile, the Chinese mainland stands as France's top trading partner in Asia and its seventh-largest globally. Bilateral trade reached $79.58 billion in 2024, up 0.8 percent year-on-year, underlining the steady growth of this cross-continental partnership.

As young entrepreneurs, activists and digital nomads seek new horizons, this renewed pact signals opportunities for businesses and communities to collaborate on sustainability, innovation and inclusive growth across borders.
