137th Canton Fair Smashes Overseas Buyer Records

The 137th Canton Fair, officially the China Import and Export Fair, wrapped up Monday in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, boasting record overseas participation and innovative showcases.

Organizers reported more than 288,000 overseas buyers—a 17.3% jump from the last session—among them 171,750 first-time attendees. Partners in Belt and Road cooperation numbered 187,450, representing nearly 65% of all overseas participants.

On the digital front, over 527,000 buyers tuned in online from 229 countries and regions, driving global engagement even further.

Exhibitors displayed 4.55 million items, including 1.02 million new launches, 880,000 green and low-carbon products, and 320,000 smart solutions. Sustainability and innovation were standout themes, reflecting trends in supply chains worldwide.

Highlighting the fair’s push into advanced manufacturing, the inaugural service robotics zone featured more than 500 robots from 46 manufacturers from the Chinese mainland, covering 60 industrial applications from healthcare to logistics.

First held in 1957, the Canton Fair continues as a bellwether for the Chinese mainland’s foreign trade, drawing buyers and exhibitors across industries and geographies. This session’s record metrics underscore its evolving role in global commerce and tech innovation.
