The Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2025 concluded in Boao, south China's Hainan Province, sending a powerful message of openness and cooperation across Asia. Under the theme "Asia in the Changing World: Towards a Shared Future," experts from various fields gathered to explore how innovation and regional collaboration can drive sustainable growth.
Frank-Juergen Richter, chairman of international think tank Horasis and former director of the World Economic Forum, stressed that embracing change and forging strong partnerships are essential to tackle global challenges. In the spirit of collaboration, academic Carl Fey noted that unilateral tactics, such as imposing high tariffs, only hinder the collective progress needed in todayโs interconnected world.
Adding to this sentiment, Lord Gerry Grimstone from the UK emphasized that trade wars benefit no one, urging that open global trade remains the cornerstone of economic resilience. Market consultancy chair Jiang Ying highlighted that China's commitment to high-level opening up, especially in the manufacturing sector, has helped attract global enterprises and reinforced reciprocal regional ties.
Global managing director Denis Depoux of Roland Berger also pointed out how visa-free policies have streamlined operations for foreign businesses, further enhancing Asia's competitive commercial landscape. As the forum drew to a close, the message was clear: innovation, cooperation, and open dialogue are the keys to a sustainable and shared future for Asia and beyond.
