China is calling on the European Union (EU) to collaborate and find a middle ground regarding the ongoing anti-subsidy case against Chinese electric vehicles. He Yadong, spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce, emphasized this stance during a press conference on Thursday.
He highlighted that the dispute has sparked significant concern across various sectors in both China and Europe. In a recent video call with China's Commerce Minister Wang Wentao, Ola Kallenius, president of the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association and chairman of Mercedes-Benz Group AG's board of management, reiterated the European automotive industry's support for a swift resolution through dialogue and consultation.
China has consistently sought to advance discussions, hoping the EU will consider the voices of industry stakeholders. He Yadong stressed the importance of pragmatism and balance, urging both sides to address each other's legitimate concerns to achieve productive outcomes.
The two nations share a robust and mutually beneficial trade relationship. Celebrating the 50th anniversary of China-EU diplomatic relations this year, He Yadong expressed China's willingness to expand cooperation in green industries, particularly the electric vehicle sector, and to resolve trade frictions through ongoing dialogue and consultation.
