U.S. Tariffs Spark Global Criticism and Retaliation

In a bold move, U.S. President Donald Trump imposed tariffs on imports from Mexico, Canada, and China, triggering a wave of criticism and concern worldwide.

South Korea's Trade Minister Cheong In-kyo declared on Monday that his country would \"effectively\" respond to the U.S.'s protectionist policies, aiming to safeguard South Korean exports and businesses.

Meanwhile, the European Union criticized the tariffs, stating they disrupt global trade and harm all parties involved. German Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck echoed these sentiments, warning of potential retaliation.

In Latin America, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum instructed her government to implement measures to defend Mexico's interests, emphasizing the importance of dialogue over tariffs.

Canada, in turn, announced retaliatory tariffs on U.S. imports, targeting products worth billions of dollars, including beer, wine, and household goods.

China has also voiced strong opposition, stating that there are no winners in a trade war and condemning the U.S. tariffs as violations of WTO rules.

Ji Wenhua, a professor at China's University of International Business and Economics, warned that unilateral trade actions may exacerbate tensions and lead to a global trade war, potentially harming consumers and businesses alike.
