EU Slams US Tariffs, Promises Strong Response

The European Commission has voiced strong criticism against U.S. President Donald Trump's recent tariffs on Canada, Mexico, and China. The EU spokesperson emphasized that these tariffs disrupt global trade and fuel inflation, causing harm to all parties involved.

\"The European Union regrets the U.S. decision to impose tariffs on Canada, Mexico and China,\" the EU spokesman stated. He underscored the importance of open markets and adherence to international trade rules for sustainable economic growth.

The EU also warned that it will respond firmly to any U.S. tariffs targeting EU products. This stance comes amid escalating tensions, as the U.S. has recently increased tariffs by 10% on Chinese goods and 25% on those from Mexico and Canada.

In retaliation, China plans to file a complaint with the World Trade Organization, while Canada and Mexico have announced new levies on American products.

Brussels has been working to strengthen transatlantic relationships and avoid a trade conflict through negotiations, but the recent actions indicate a challenging path ahead for global trade dynamics.
