Record Surge in Cross-Border Trips During 2025 Spring Festival in China

China is witnessing a remarkable increase in cross-border travel as the 2025 Spring Festival holiday unfolds. According to China Media Group (CMG), many ports across the Chinese mainland are experiencing new peaks in both inbound and outbound passenger flows.

The Shenzhen-Zhongshan cross-sea passage has been particularly busy, handling a total of 333,900 vehicles with daily traffic reaching 95,400. This surge highlights the growing demand for seamless travel between these vibrant regions.

In the first four days of the Spring Festival, border inspection agencies in Shenzhen processed over 2.1 million cross-border trips, marking a 9.4% increase compared to the same period last year. This uptick reflects the robust economic and cultural exchanges taking place.

Additionally, Hekou County in southwest Yunnan Province, which borders Vietnam, has seen a significant rise in cross-border passengers. Many Vietnamese tourists have entered China through Hekou, contributing to the festive atmosphere and boosting local tourism.
