China is gearing up for a vibrant Spring Festival in 2025, marking the first celebration after the Chinese New Year was recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity and the designation of New Year's Eve as a legal holiday. The State Council Information Office (SCIO) held a press conference on Friday to outline measures aimed at ensuring a stable market supply and promoting consumption during this festive season.
The Ministry of Commerce, leading the implementation of consumer goods trade-in programs, has introduced several initiatives that have already delivered significant benefits to consumers. As of January 23, over 1 million units of home appliances have been purchased through the nationโs trade-in program in 2025 alone. Vice Minister of Commerce Sheng Qiuping highlighted the remarkable success of these initiatives, emphasizing their role in enhancing consumer satisfaction and driving economic growth.
The trade-in program not only encourages consumers to upgrade their appliances but also supports sustainable consumption by promoting the recycling and efficient use of resources. This strategic move is expected to boost holiday spending, contributing to a lively and prosperous Spring Festival celebration across China.
