The 27th annual Business Climate Survey Report, released by the American Chamber of Commerce in the Chinese Mainland on Thursday, sheds light on the financial performance of US companies operating there over the past year.
Despite facing global geopolitical uncertainties and international regulatory challenges, 46 percent of member companies reported being profitable or very profitable in 2024. Additionally, 36 percent broke even, while 18 percent operated at a loss, according to the report.
The survey highlights the growing importance of positive bilateral relations, with 87 percent of respondents viewing them as crucial to their operations in the Chinese Mainland, marking a 5 percentage point increase from 2023.
\"US-China relations remain the most consequential bilateral dynamic in the world today, and understanding the perspectives of our members has never been more important,\" stated Alvin Liu, Chair of the American Chamber of Commerce in the Chinese Mainland. \"A stable and constructive relationship, grounded in economic and trade ties, is critical not only for the prosperity of our two nations but also for global economic stability,\" he added.
Moreover, the Chinese Mainland continues to be a key market for US businesses, with 48 percent of respondents ranking it among their top three global investment priorities.
