China Seeks Stable Trade Relations with the U.S. Amid Tariff Tensions

In a recent statement, China's Ministry of Commerce emphasized the nation's commitment to fostering stable, healthy, and sustainable economic and trade relations with the United States. He Yadong, the ministry spokesperson, highlighted the importance of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation as foundational principles for bilateral ties.

Addressing concerns over the potential 10% tariff increase on Chinese imports imposed by the U.S. administration starting February 1, He Yadong remarked, \"Tariff measures are not conducive to the interests of either China or the United States, nor to the rest of the world.\" This stance underscores China's preference for dialogue and collaboration over protectionist policies that could harm global economic stability.

The spokesperson also touched upon the topic of TikTok, reaffirming China's respect for the legitimate rights and interests of enterprises. He opposed actions that undermine the market economy principles and harm legitimate business interests, advocating for a fair and just business environment for companies worldwide, including those from China.

Looking ahead, China expressed hope that the United States will prioritize listening to the voices of enterprises and the public, thereby creating conditions favorable to bilateral economic and trade cooperation. Such efforts, according to He, are essential for the well-being of people in both nations.
