China’s Economic Prowess Takes Center Stage at Davos 2025

The World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2025 in Davos shone a spotlight on China’s pivotal role in the global economy. Senior officials and global business leaders gathered to discuss the nation’s economic prospects and development strategies.

Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang delivered a compelling speech, emphasizing China’s commitment to sustainable growth and highlighting key economic trends. Ding welcomed foreign enterprises to invest and expand their businesses in China, promising greater success through shared opportunities.

Zhu Min, a member of the Senior Expert Advisory Committee of the China Center for International Economic Exchanges, underscored the importance of strengthening China’s manufacturing sector. “This is the key competitiveness of China's economy. China's manufacturing accounts for roughly 30.3 percent of the global GDP. It's equal to the total of US, Japan and South Korea together,” Zhu asserted during the WEF sub-forum, \"Decoding China's Economy: Present and Future.\" He added, “In the next 20 years, we'll ensure 'Made in China' means affordable, quality, and high technology.”

Michael Suss, Executive Chairman of Oerlikon, praised China’s development over the past three decades as “impressive.” “The world’s wealth creation over the last 30 years wouldn’t have been possible without China’s growth,” Suss remarked.

Mirek Dusek, WEF Managing Director, highlighted China’s crucial role in revitalizing the global economy. “China plays a very important role in relaunching growth, through development, trade, and technology,” Dusek stated in an interview with CGTN.
