The Chinese Ministry of Commerce has declared that channels of communication with the European Union (EU) regarding intellectual property (IP) issues remain open. This statement comes in response to the EU's recent complaint filed at the World Trade Organization (WTO) concerning China's judicial ruling on standard essential patent disputes.
According to the ministry, China received a consultation request from the EU on January 20. In an online statement addressing media inquiries, the ministry emphasized that China has consistently adhered to WTO rules and fulfilled its accession commitments. It highlighted the continuous improvements in legislation and law enforcement related to the protection of intellectual property rights, noting that these efforts have been widely recognized.
The ministry further assured that China will address any subsequent matters in accordance with WTO regulations, firmly safeguarding its legitimate rights and interests. This commitment underscores China's dedication to maintaining a transparent and cooperative stance in international trade and IP matters.
