China’s 2025 Spring Festival Travel Rush Set to Break Records with 9 Billion Trips

China is gearing up for an unprecedented Spring Festival travel rush, known locally as \"Chunyun,\" with an estimated 9 billion inter-regional trips expected during the 2025 peak season. This marks a 7% increase from the previous year, signaling a robust rebound in domestic travel.

The Chunyun period for 2025 spans from January 14 to February 22, coinciding with the most important traditional festival in China, falling on January 29 this year. During this time, millions of people will embark on journeys to reunite with their families, driving high demand across all modes of transportation.

Record highs are anticipated in both rail and air travel, with projections of 510 million rail journeys and 90 million civil aviation passenger trips. To ensure the safety and efficiency of these massive travels, eight government departments, including the Ministry of Transport, have unveiled a comprehensive action plan.

The plan emphasizes the provision of charging services for new energy vehicles, announcing the addition of charging facilities in busy service areas and offering guidance for drivers to manage parking and charging needs smoothly during the peak period. These measures aim to facilitate a seamless travel experience and accommodate the surge in transportation demand.

As China prepares for this monumental travel period, the collaborative efforts of government agencies are set to support one of the world's largest annual human migrations, reflecting the country's commitment to sustaining economic activity and honoring cultural traditions.
