For Afghan entrepreneur Abdul Wahed Ahmadzai, each day in Beijing's Chaoyang District brings a sense of fulfillment as he bridges global talents with entrepreneurial opportunities in China's dynamic capital.
Ahmadzai's journey in Beijing began in 2014 when he enrolled as a finance student at the University of International Business and Economics. Over the years, he earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees, initially envisioning a career in investment banking.
The turning point came in 2016 when Ahmadzai joined a student startup team, recommended by his tutor. He pitched the idea of a service platform tailored for international students at a startup competition and was pleasantly surprised to win.
\"I thought I was just going to present my idea, get some feedback, and continue on my own path,\" Ahmadzai shared. \"But then I realized that Beijing offers a multitude of platforms, ecosystems, and initiatives aimed at helping young entrepreneurs and international talents build their businesses seamlessly.\"
He emphasizes that Beijing hosts one of the best entrepreneurial ecosystems, encouraging aspiring business owners with the simple yet powerful message: \"The only thing you need to start a business is an idea.\"
