China’s Businesses Push Back Against US Semiconductor Export Restrictions

China's business community is vehemently opposing the United States' recent semiconductor export control measures, according to a spokesperson from the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) on Wednesday.

The CCPIT spokesperson criticized the U.S. for exerting long-arm jurisdiction over Chinese companies, particularly highlighting the new restrictions on semiconductor manufacturing equipment and memory chip exports to China. Additionally, 136 Chinese entities have been added to the U.S. Entity List, a move that China views as an abuse of economic coercion.

These measures, the spokesperson argued, violate the principles of a market economy and fair competition. The spokesperson further stated that the United States has disregarded international economic and trade rules, undermining the stability and cooperative nature of global industrial and supply chains.

The spokesperson warned that such actions are poised to negatively impact the global semiconductor industry, including American companies. Emphasizing the importance of close communication and cooperation in the semiconductor sector, the spokesperson highlighted that unilateral sanctions could severely damage the industry's development and collaborative efforts.

Protecting the resilience and stability of global industrial and supply chains is crucial for the sustainable growth of the global economy. The spokesperson called on the United States to halt its unilateral control measures, adhere to international economic and trade regulations, and take concrete steps to foster the healthy development of the global semiconductor industry. This approach, the spokesperson added, would safeguard the security and stability of global supply chains and promote mutual benefits for businesses worldwide.
