BRI Rail Projects to Enhance Global Connectivity at Beijing Expo

The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) is set to showcase its impact on global connectivity and economic growth at the upcoming second China International Supply Chain Expo in Beijing, running from November 26 to 30. A recent World Bank report highlights that transportation projects under the BRI could, by 2030, increase trade among participating economies by up to 9.7 percent, boost foreign direct investment by nearly 5 percent, and elevate GDP by as much as 3.4 percent.

Among the key highlights, CGTN delves into the China-Europe freight rail service and notable railway projects like the China-Laos Railway, Hungary-Serbia Railway, and China-Thailand Railway. The Hungary-Serbia Railway, a 350-kilometer line constructed by Chinese companies, stands as a testament to China's collaboration with Central and Eastern European nations. Meanwhile, the China-Thailand Railway marks Thailand's inaugural standard-gauge high-speed rail, playing a crucial role in the trans-Asian network. This rail line will link Bangkok with northeastern Thailand and connect seamlessly with the China-Laos Railway, facilitating travel from Bangkok to Kunming, China.
