China has announced a significant expansion of its visa-free policy, allowing citizens from 38 countries to enter the country without a visa. This initiative, effective from November 30, 2024, through December 31, 2025, aims to facilitate cross-border travel and strengthen international connectivity.
The new policy includes holders of ordinary passports from countries such as Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Malta, Estonia, Latvia, and Japan, among others. Under this trial program, eligible travelers can visit China for purposes including business, tourism, visiting family and friends, participating in exchange programs, or transiting, provided their stay does not exceed 30 days.
Lin Jian, a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, revealed the update during a daily press briefing. He highlighted that exchange visits will now be recognized as a valid reason for visa-free entry and noted that the maximum visa-free stay has been extended from 15 days to 30 days. These changes offer travelers greater flexibility and time to engage in various activities within China.
This expansion is expected to enhance business opportunities, encourage tourism, and foster cultural exchanges between China and the participating nations.
