CIIE 2024 Unveils Innovations and Global Collaborations in Shanghai

The 7th China International Import Expo (CIIE) kicked off on Tuesday morning in Shanghai under the inspiring theme \"New Era, Shared Future.\" This year's expo emphasizes the development of new quality productive forces and the importance of open sharing.

Running from November 5 to 10, CIIE 2024 has expanded in scale, featuring over 3,400 exhibitors from more than 150 countries, regions, and international organizations. Notably, Norway, Burundi, Madagascar, and the United Nations Children's Fund are making their debut appearances.

Matts Johansen, CEO of the Norwegian company Aker BioMarine, shared with CGTN that the Chinese market is his company's fastest-growing market. This growth has motivated his participation in the CIIE to forge new connections and prepare for future developments in China.

A major focus of this year's expo is the development of new quality productive forces, aligning with China's new development philosophy that prioritizes high-tech, high efficiency, and high-quality growth. Over 400 new products, technologies, and services are being unveiled, including high-end equipment, biotechnology, and new energy solutions.

A special section dedicated to new materials showcases innovations such as air-purifying paint and paint that offers both insulation and cooling for urban renovations.

Jakob Stausholm, CEO of Rio Tinto, believes these new introductions reflect the positive business sentiment toward China's vast market potential. He also praised China's economic progress and its impressive energy transition efforts.

In a move to promote open sharing, CIIE 2024 has allocated over 120 free exhibition spots to the world's least developed countries and has expanded the African products zone. This initiative is part of China's effort to create a \"green channel\" for African products, facilitating their entry into the Chinese market.

During a meeting with select exhibitors and buyers at the CIIE, Chinese Premier Li Qiang emphasized China's unwavering commitment to further opening up, regardless of global economic changes. Li expressed his hope that China will continue to be not only an export destination for foreign enterprises but also a land of investment and entrepreneurship, fostering closer links between China and the global market.
