In a strong signal of economic openness, Chinese Premier Li Qiang announced on Monday that China will widen its market access to foreign-funded firms, irrespective of changes in the international climate.
Premier Li made these remarks during the seventh China International Import Expo (CIIE), where notable global companies such as Synopsys, General Electric, MSD, and China FAW Group Co., Ltd. were in attendance.
Foreign-funded enterprises present at the meeting expressed optimism about the Chinese market, indicating plans to deepen their presence and increase investments within the country.
Despite a sluggish global economic recovery, Premier Li highlighted that China's overall economic operations have remained stable and continue to show progress. He emphasized that the Chinese market remains one of the best choices for global enterprises.
China is set to continue easing market access and promote the orderly expansion of opening-up in sectors including telecommunications, education, culture, and medical care. Premier Li pledged to enhance the business environment by providing equal opportunities in accessing production factors, qualification licensing, and participation in government procurement.
He expressed hope that China will evolve into not only an export destination for foreign enterprises but also a prime land for investment and entrepreneurship, thereby fostering closer links between China and the global market.
Premier Li concluded by expressing his expectation that Chinese and foreign entrepreneurs will steadfastly support economic globalization, collaborate to advance technological progress and industrial upgrading, and cultivate new growth engines for the world economy.
