Chinese Premier Li Qiang met with Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov in Shanghai on Monday, underscoring the deepening relationship between China and Kazakhstan.
The leaders highlighted over 30 years of diplomatic ties, emphasizing mutual respect and equality that have set a benchmark for good-neighborly friendship and shared benefits between neighboring nations.
Premier Li expressed China's commitment to working closely with Kazakhstan to implement the significant consensus reached by their heads of state. He advocated for deepening political mutual trust, supporting each other’s core interests, and expanding mutually beneficial cooperation to deliver greater benefits to both peoples.
Focusing on the Belt and Road Initiative, Premier Li outlined plans to align development strategies with Kazakhstan, enhance bilateral trade, strengthen production capacity, and boost investment cooperation. He emphasized the creation of highlights in energy and mineral cooperation, improving connectivity, and achieving more practical outcomes.
Looking ahead, Premier Li called for joint efforts to ensure the success of the Year of Chinese Tourism in Kazakhstan next year. He also highlighted the importance of strengthening collaboration in culture, education, and other sectors to foster deeper mutual understanding and goodwill between the two nations.
Premier Li reiterated China's readiness to collaborate within multilateral frameworks such as the United Nations and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), promoting economic globalization, free trade, and advancing global governance towards a more just and equitable direction.
Prime Minister Bektenov echoed these sentiments, noting that Kazakhstan places great importance on its relationship with China. He expressed a willingness to further enhance high-level exchanges, deepen cooperation in trade, investment, agriculture, transportation, science and technology, culture and education, and strengthen connectivity under the Belt and Road framework.
Prime Minister Bektenov welcomed Chinese enterprises to invest in Kazakhstan and affirmed Kazakhstan’s readiness to bolster communication and cooperation with China within multilateral platforms like the SCO and the China-Central Asia mechanism.
