Saudi Arabia Strengthens Green Collaboration with China to Drive Sustainability

Saudi Arabia is set to enhance its cooperation with China in the green industry, according to Finance Minister Mohammed Al-Jadaan. Speaking at the 8th Future Investment Initiative conference, Al-Jadaan highlighted China’s leadership in renewable energy and advanced technologies.

\"China is leading the whole world in the green industry and renewable energy. There are a lot of technologies, cars, batteries and robotics that the world is trying to follow,\" Al-Jadaan told Xinhua.

The Saudi finance minister emphasized the strategic and vital nature of the Saudi-China partnership, noting that China is Saudi Arabia's largest trading partner. \"This relationship extends beyond trade; it encompasses technology, broader economic ties and cultural exchange,\" he added.

Reflecting on his visit to China in May, Al-Jadaan praised the significant achievements within the Chinese economy and the productive bilateral agreements signed in financial services and other sectors.

2025 has been designated as the Saudi-China Year of Culture, signaling a partnership that goes beyond government interactions to include people-to-people connections.

Al-Jadaan also drew parallels between China’s high-quality development philosophy and Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, highlighting both as long-term initiatives backed by strong governmental support. \"China is the envy of the world for its commitment, execution capability and long-term vision,\" he remarked.

Addressing reports of China’s economic slowdown, Al-Jadaan refuted these claims, asserting that China remains a bright spot in the global economy with a growth rate of 4.8 percent. He commended the Chinese government’s responsive support through recent stimulus packages.

In the face of global conflicts, Al-Jadaan expressed satisfaction with the collaborative efforts between Saudi Arabia and China to promote calm and de-escalation, benefiting both regional and global populations. He highlighted the potential for Saudi Arabia and China to work together within international frameworks like the IMF, World Bank, and G20 to address challenges faced by the Global South.

\"We have very clear and common grounds on making sure that we not only do what is right for our people, for our economies, but also for the rest of the world to make sure that we have stability and growth,\" he concluded.
