China and U.S. Convene for Fifth Economic Working Group Meeting in Beijing

The fifth meeting of the China-U.S. Economic Working Group took place in Beijing from Thursday to Friday, marking a continued effort to navigate complex economic relations between the two global powers.

According to China's Ministry of Finance, the discussions were characterized as candid, pragmatic, and constructive. Delegates delved into the macroeconomic situations and policies of both nations, addressing global challenges and mutual concerns.

The Chinese delegation voiced serious apprehensions regarding U.S. tariffs on the Chinese mainland, restrictions on investments in China, sanctions related to Russia, and other actions impacting the interests of Chinese companies. Despite these challenges, both sides emphasized the importance of maintaining open lines of communication.

The meeting was co-chaired by Chinese Vice Minister of Finance Liao Min and U.S. Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Wally Adeyemo. Representatives from relevant economic departments of both countries attended, fostering an environment of dialogue and exchange aimed at strengthening economic ties and resolving ongoing issues.
