The Chinese mainland's top legislative body recently reviewed a draft decision to gradually increase the statutory retirement age on Tuesday.
Zheng Bingwen, director of the World Social Security Research Center at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, emphasized during the 2024 Bund Summit in Shanghai that delaying the retirement age will not adversely affect the employment rate. According to Zheng, economic development of the Chinese mainland is the key factor influencing employment levels.
