Elon Musk and Donald Trump’s Live Interview on X Delayed by Cyber Attack

In a highly anticipated event, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's interview with billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk finally kicked off on Musk's social media platform X on Monday evening, after a significant delay caused by technical issues.

The livestream was supposed to start at 8:00 p.m., but technical difficulties, attributed by Musk to a potential distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack, pushed the commencement time to 8:42 p.m. (0042 GMT Tuesday). A DDoS attack is a cyber threat where a server or network is overwhelmed with traffic, aiming to disrupt its normal operations. However, Musk's claim regarding the attack has not been independently confirmed.

Despite the late start, the event drew a massive audience, with over a million viewers tuning in as indicated by a counter on X. As the conversation began, Trump acknowledged the high viewership by saying, \"Congratulations on breaking every record in the book,\" seemingly referring to the unprecedented number of users attempting to access the livestream.

Opening the dialogue, Musk asked Trump to recount his attempted assassination on July 13, an incident in which Trump's ear was struck by a bullet. This personal inquiry set the tone for a deep and engaging discussion between the two influential figures.

Musk, recognized as the world's richest person, has shown support for Trump following the shooting incident. Notably, Musk had previously endorsed Democratic President Joe Biden in the 2020 elections but has since shifted his political stance to the right.
