Released on July 16, the film explores the story of a wealthy couple who create challenges for their son to encourage his personal growth. By Monday noon, Successor had accumulated over 1.58 billion yuan, making up 26.4% of the total box office sales.
Following closely is the crime thriller A Place Called Silence, which delves into the serious issue of campus bullying. Debuting on July 3, the film has grossed nearly 1.12 billion yuan.
The drama Moments We Shared, released on June 22, holds the third spot in the seasonal rankings with approximately 496.5 million yuan in earnings.
The summer moviegoing period is recognized as the longest single screening season on the Chinese mainland. In comparison, the 2023 summer box office reached a total of 20.6 billion yuan, highlighting the growing popularity and economic impact of the film industry in the region.
