The Chinese Ministry of Commerce announced on Thursday that it may impose provisional anti-dumping duties on pork and pig by-products imported from the European Union (EU). This decision follows an ongoing anti-dumping investigation that was initiated on June 17.
He Yadong, spokesperson for the Ministry, stated that if the preliminary investigation confirms that dumping practices are occurring and causing harm to China's domestic industry, provisional measures will be taken in accordance with World Trade Organization (WTO) rules and China’s anti-dumping regulations.
The investigation focuses on pork and pig by-products imported from the EU between January 1, 2023, and December 31, 2023. It also examines the potential damage inflicted upon related Chinese industries during the same period.
The probe is expected to conclude before June 17, 2025, though it may be extended by six months under special circumstances, according to the Ministry.
