China Pushes Back Against Turkey’s New Tariffs on Chinese Cars

China has expressed strong opposition to Türkiye's recent decision to impose additional duties on Chinese vehicle imports. According to the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, these new tariffs are discriminatory and violate World Trade Organization (WTO) principles.

The additional 40% import duty, set to take effect in July, targets fuel and hybrid passenger vehicles manufactured in China. This move follows Türkiye's earlier tariff hikes on Chinese electric vehicles, which Beijing has consistently protested.

China's Ministry of Commerce spokesperson stated that Türkiye's policies not only harm cooperative enterprises and local consumers but also undermine the confidence of Chinese businesses investing in Türkiye. The ministry has urged Türkiye to lift these discriminatory measures and foster healthier economic and trade relations between the two nations.
