BCECC Chair Warns: More Trade Barriers Could Set Europe Back

Bernard Dewitm, chairman of the Belgian-Chinese Chamber of Commerce, has voiced concerns over Europe's potential move to impose additional taxes on imports from China and other countries. In a recent interview with CMG, Dewitm emphasized that such protectionist measures could trigger retaliatory actions, with China and other nations imposing similar taxes on European products. He cautioned that erecting more trade barriers would not aid economic growth and lamented the possibility of Europe reverting to an era dominated by extensive trade restrictions.
