IMF Upgrades Chinese Mainland’s 2024 Growth Forecast to 5%

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has raised its growth projection for the Chinese mainland's economy to 5% in 2024 and 4.5% in 2025. Gita Gopinath, the IMF's First Deputy Managing Director, announced the updated forecasts following a comprehensive 2024 Article IV review conducted by the IMF team on Tuesday.

These revised projections mark an increase of 0.4 percentage points from the IMF's April estimates, driven by robust first-quarter GDP data and recent policy measures that have bolstered economic performance.

\"China plays an important and constructive role in supporting debt restructuring in low-income and vulnerable countries and promoting the green transition. The Fund looks forward to continued cooperation with the authorities in this regard,\" Gopinath stated.

This optimistic outlook underscores China's significant impact on the global economy and its ongoing efforts to foster sustainable growth and international collaboration.
