Chinese Construction Machines Win Global Trust with Innovation and Sustainability

East China's Xuzhou city recently buzzed with international activity as over 1,200 company representatives from 63 countries and regions gathered to explore the latest in construction machinery. Hosting one of the world's largest construction machinery makers, Xuzhou showcased an impressive array of brand new, custom-made machines designed to meet the evolving demands of the global market.

A standout moment was the significant purchase by Brazil's WTC Equipment, acquiring a 3,000-tonne crane valued at nearly 9 million U.S. dollars per unit. Washington Moura, WTC's chief commercial officer, highlighted, \"It is not just me, but in the entire South American and even the global market, people are discovering that the quality of Chinese machinery keeps getting better with time. The quality is high and the pricing is very reasonable. That's why I believe the global market continues to choose Chinese products.\" This crane is expected to play a pivotal role in building wind farms, promising substantial returns over the next decade.

Yang Yufeng, president of the Mining Machinery Research Institute at XCMG, emphasized the trend towards larger machines driven by changes in the mining industry. \"Mines are becoming larger as companies continue to consolidate smaller mines. Secondly, large machines can help cut labor costs while improving workers' safety. Especially in countries like Australia and Brazil, the demand for larger machines continues to grow year by year,\" Yang explained.

The global construction machinery market, valued at over 180 billion U.S. dollars by 2030, is witnessing robust growth, with China leading as the top producer holding a 46% market share, followed by North America and Europe. Lenardo Riccioppo, commercial director at Zocar, noted, \"I think the market has changed. If you think carefully, the first brand coming to people's mind was Caterpillar. And now, people are thinking of other brands. I think the market has changed.\" Stuard Brooks from Brooks Group added, \"Trading with China makes so much sense. Up north in Perth, we are in the same time zone. It is very efficient. And the 'made in China' brand is actually like a badge of quality these days.\"

Innovation is at the forefront of China's construction machinery advancements. Approximately 20% of XCMG's mining machinery is now classified as new energy, primarily electrified, with plans to offer half of its lineup in new energy formats. Liu Jiansen, vice president for XCMG Machinery, highlighted a 286% growth in new energy machine exports in the first quarter of 2024, attributing the surge to the machines' low carbon footprints and energy-saving capabilities.

Additionally, future technologies such as autonomous driving and remote-operating vehicles were showcased, underscoring China's commitment to enhancing efficiency and promoting sustainable development in the construction industry. As the global market seeks cutting-edge machinery to boost productivity and embrace green initiatives, China's leadership in electrifying construction machinery positions it at the forefront of an inevitable and sustainable future.
