Beijing, October 2023 – Chinese President Xi Jinping has emphasized the importance of enhancing modern tourism systems, aiming to propel China into a leading tourism powerhouse. Speaking at a national meeting held in Beijing, Xi outlined a comprehensive strategy to develop the tourism sector as a key pillar of economic growth and cultural exchange.
Xi, also serving as the general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, highlighted that China's tourism industry has grown into an emerging and strategic sector that enhances people's wellbeing and happiness. He praised China's unique path in tourism development, which boasts distinct characteristics tailored to the nation's cultural and natural heritage.
Addressing the new era, Xi acknowledged that the tourism sector faces both fresh opportunities and challenges. The national meeting concluded with Li Shulei, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, conveying Xi's important instructions.
