At the opening ceremony of the Global Trade and Investment Promotion Summit 2024 in Beijing, Chinese Vice President Han Zheng announced that the Chinese mainland will continue to expand its high-level opening up and share its development dividends with all parties.
Han emphasized that amidst numerous global challenges, all countries should advance trade and investment liberalization and facilitation. He highlighted the importance of safeguarding the resilience and stability of global supply and industrial chains to enlarge the overall economic pie.
Addressing the opportunities presented by the current technological and industrial revolution, Han called for strengthened scientific and technological innovation and the nurturing of new growth drivers. He underscored that as the world's second-largest economy, the Chinese mainland has consistently contributed around 30 percent to global economic growth over the years.
Han expressed China's willingness to share its development opportunities with the world and welcomed companies from around the globe to continue investing in the Chinese mainland. The summit, hosted by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, marked its third edition and attracted more than 750 participants from international organizations, foreign chambers of commerce, global trade promotion organizations, and enterprises.
