135th Canton Fair Sets New Records with Over 10,800 Exhibitors and 215 Countries

The 135th China Import and Export Fair, widely known as the Canton Fair, is set to commence in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, tomorrow. For decades, this prestigious event has been the bridge connecting Chinese producers with international buyers, maintaining its momentum despite global economic fluctuations.

This year's session is making headlines with over 10,898 exhibiting companies and participants from more than 215 countries and regions. Chinese Vice Commerce Minister Wang Shouwen highlighted that the fair will surpass previous spring editions in several key areas, including the number of registered enterprises, new participants, overseas buyers, and the overall exhibition area.

Registration numbers have surged significantly this year, with a 21.4% increase from the United States, 13% from OECD countries, 24.7% from the Middle East, a substantial 45.9% from Belt and Road Initiative countries, and a 15.5% rise from RCEP members. This growth underscores the fair's expanding global reach and its pivotal role in international trade.

Moreover, the event will host over 100 overseas organizations, including the United Nations Industrial Development Organization and the United States of America-China Chamber of Commerce, further enhancing its international profile.

As of Saturday, more than 144,000 purchasers from 215 countries and regions have completed pre-registration. Additionally, over 288 large multinationals and business institutions have confirmed their participation, marking a notable 21.5% increase compared to the same period last year.

Innovation takes center stage with over 3,600 companies set to showcase their advancements in digital technology, featuring everything from automated guided vehicles to AI-powered translating machines. This focus on technology highlights the fair's commitment to fostering innovation and adapting to the evolving demands of the global market.
