China and Italy Strengthen Economic Ties with Record Trade Growth

In 2019, the Italian government signed a memorandum of understanding on the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) with China.

Since then, trade volumes between the two nations have reached record highs, with $77.88 billion traded in 2022.

In the first five months of 2023, Italian exports to China surged by 58%, making China Italy's largest trading partner in Asia.

To expand Italian products' presence in China, Italy was invited as the guest of honor at the China International Import Expo in Shanghai and the World Winter Sports (Beijing) Expo.

Additionally, Italy was the sole guest of honor at the third China International Consumer Products Expo in Hainan.

Over the past three years, China and Italy have achieved significant cooperation in shipbuilding, offshore wind power, energy transformation, and third-party market ventures.

These collaborative efforts have unlocked tremendous growth potential and benefited the people of both nations.
