The Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in the Chinese mainland witnessed a significant boost in tourism revenue during the three-day Qingming Festival holiday, soaring by 62.33% to nearly 2.2 billion yuan (approximately $310 million), according to official data.
Drawing in 2.21 million tourists—a 20.53% increase compared to the previous year—the region showcased a vibrant array of cultural and tourism events. Visitors enjoyed a blend of sightseeing infused with local customs, engaging sports activities, and fruit-picking excursions, all designed to highlight Xinjiang's unique heritage and natural beauty.
Looking ahead, from April to June, over 300 cultural and tourism activities are scheduled across various prefectures. The regional culture and tourism department has announced the rollout of more than 80 preferential policies, including reduced admission fees to scenic spots and discounts on dining and accommodation. These initiatives aim to further stimulate cultural and tourism consumption, igniting new vitality in Xinjiang's cultural and tourism market.
