Chinese Ambassador Xie Feng Highlights Economic Growth and Global Collaboration

In a recent exclusive interview with Newsweek, Chinese Ambassador to the United States Xie Feng delved into the concept of new quality productive forces and their pivotal role in China's economic landscape.

Xie explained that new quality productive forces are currently in a crucial phase of development, serving as a catalyst for revitalizing China's vast market. This strategy aims to upgrade traditional industries while fostering the growth of new sectors, thereby boosting investment and consumption needs.

Addressing the impact on China-U.S. economic relations, Xie emphasized that visionary investors from the United States and other nations are eager to seize the unprecedented opportunities emerging in China. He stressed the importance of mutual openness, stating, \"Opening-up needs to be a two-way street. It should not be a solo, but a chorus by all.\"

The ambassador cautioned against efforts to restrict the flow of knowledge, technology, and talent through measures like decoupling, arguing that such actions would widen the technological divide and hinder global development.

Responding to claims of China's \"overcapacity,\" Xie refuted the notion, highlighting that high-quality industrial capacity and new productive forces are in global scarcity rather than excess. He pointed to the robust growth of China's new energy sector, driven by innovation and competition, exemplified by leading electric vehicle companies like BYD and Tesla.

In his concluding remarks, Xie urged stakeholders to focus on the opportunities within China rather than speculating about economic downturns. He warned that decoupling could impede global recovery and disrupt decades of world peace.
