Liu Zhenmin Calls for Immediate Global Action on Climate Crisis at Boao Forum

As the world marks over three decades since the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change came into force in 1994, the urgency to address the climate crisis has never been greater. At the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2024 in Boao, southern China's Hainan Province, leaders from around the globe converged to discuss concrete actions needed to combat global warming.

China's Special Envoy for Climate Change, Liu Zhenmin, emphasized the critical need for both nations and individuals to strive towards carbon neutrality and energy transition. \"Now is the time for every country and every individual to take decisive action to achieve our climate goals,\" Liu stated during a packed panel discussion at the Boao Conference Center on Wednesday.

The panel, themed \"Accelerating Climate Action,\" highlighted the collective commitment among international climate negotiators, businesses, bankers, and scientists. However, a significant challenge remains: securing adequate financing to support these ambitious climate initiatives. Experts at the conference pointed out that without substantial financial investment, the global response to climate change may fall short of its potential impact.

The Boao Forum continues to serve as a pivotal platform for fostering dialogue and collaboration among G20 nations and other international stakeholders, aiming to drive sustainable and impactful climate solutions forward.
