The China-EU financial working group held its inaugural meeting in Beijing on March 18 and 19, according to China’s central bank.
Pan Gongsheng, governor of the People’s Bank of China (PBOC), and Jorge Toledo, ambassador of the EU to China, were among the senior officials and representatives who attended the meeting.
During the discussions, both sides examined the macroeconomic and financial stability landscapes, alongside their respective financial regulatory frameworks. Key topics included the construction of the capital market, sustainable finance, cross-border data transfers, and cross-border payments.
China and the EU view the financial working group as a pivotal communication channel for policy coordination, a key platform for addressing practical challenges, and a valuable forum for discussing global economic and financial issues.
Established through consensus at the 10th China-EU High-level Economic and Trade Dialogue, the working group aims to enhance financial exchanges and cooperation between China and the EU.
