German Investment in Chinese Mainland Hits Record High in 2023

German investment into the Chinese mainland soared to unprecedented levels in 2023, setting a new record for cross-border economic engagement. According to Jens Hildebrandt, executive director and board member of the northern branch of the German Chamber of Commerce in China, over 91 percent of German companies are steadfast in their commitment to the Chinese market.

As 2024 approaches, the German business community is keen on maintaining this upward trajectory. In an exclusive conversation with CGTN's Lily Lyu, Hildebrandt shared his perspectives on the prevailing business sentiment and the strategic initiatives the German Chamber of Commerce will undertake to bolster investment further.

\"Our focus remains on fostering a robust and sustainable business environment in the Chinese mainland,\" Hildebrandt stated. \"We are dedicated to providing our member companies with the necessary support and resources to navigate the evolving market landscape effectively.\"

The Chamber aims to enhance its role by facilitating deeper market insights, expanding networking opportunities, and advocating for policies that support German businesses operating in China. With these efforts, the German Chamber of Commerce is positioned to be a pivotal ally for companies looking to thrive in the dynamic Chinese market.
