China’s ‘New Three’ Export Pillars Fuel Record-Breaking Trade

In the first two months of 2024, China's foreign trade marked a strong start, with the total value of goods traded hitting a record high of 6.61 trillion yuan ($918 billion).

Since last year, electric vehicles, lithium batteries, and solar cells have emerged as China’s new export pillars, each surpassing the 1-trillion-yuan mark in export value. On average, one out of every three vehicles exported by China is electric. To put it into perspective, the cumulative export of lithium batteries could circle the earth four times!

These so-called 'three new' exports are not only driving China's economic growth but also shaping the future of global markets. By focusing on innovative and sustainable industries, China is positioning itself as a key player in the evolving international trade landscape.
