Serbia is celebrating cultural diversity with the launch of a 12-year series of postal stamps dedicated to the Chinese New Year. Each year, the Serbian postal service will unveil a new stamp featuring a different animal from the Chinese zodiac.
The inaugural stamp was revealed on February 9, showcasing the dragon, or loong, a prominent symbol in this year’s festivities. A limited edition of 25,000 stamps was made available to the public, marking the beginning of this vibrant tradition.
These unique stamps are produced in Novi Sad, Serbia’s second-largest city known for its rich cultural heritage. Located along the River Danube and home to nearly 370,000 residents, Novi Sad is not only the cultural capital of Serbia but also one of the only two cities in the country where postal stamps are printed.
This initiative highlights the strengthening cultural ties between Serbia and China, celebrating a tradition that resonates globally and fostering a deeper appreciation for Chinese heritage among Serbians.
