IRENA, with its 169 member countries and regions, serves as a leading global intergovernmental organization dedicated to promoting the renewable energy transition. It supports nations in their energy transitions and provides up-to-date data and analyses on green technology innovation, policy, finance, and investment.

One of the key factors driving the global renewable energy surge is China’s role as a manufacturing hub. This position has significantly lowered the costs associated with the green transition, enabling numerous countries to advance their national renewable energy plans more efficiently. According to IRENA's Renewable Capacity Statistics 2023, published in March last year, China was responsible for approximately 48 percent of the global increase in total renewable capacity in 2022.

As the world moves towards a more sustainable future, China’s ongoing commitment and strategic position in renewable energy manufacturing continue to be instrumental in reducing costs and accelerating the adoption of green technologies worldwide.
