China’s NEV Exports Soar 27% in January 2024

China's new energy vehicle (NEV) exports maintained a robust growth trajectory in January 2024, with 95,000 new energy passenger cars shipped overseas. This represents a significant 27.1 percent increase compared to the same month last year, according to data released by the China Passenger Car Association.

NEVs accounted for 26.8 percent of China's total exported passenger vehicles in January. \"The scale advantage of China's new energy industry combined with growing market demand means more Chinese-made new energy product brands are venturing abroad, with their recognition in international markets continuing to grow,\" the association stated.

Alongside increased recognition, Chinese carmakers have been enhancing their service networks overseas, further supporting NEV exports. Retail sales data revealed that price-friendly smaller-sized A0-class pure electric vehicles made up nearly 60 percent of Chinese-exported NEV sales in overseas markets last month. Shanghai-based SAIC reported strong performance in Europe, while BYD emerged as a competitive player in the Southeast Asian market in January.
