This Wednesday, December 24, the Chinese mainland released its 2025 Catalogue of Industries for Encouraging Foreign Investment. The update, jointly issued by the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Commerce, aims to better guide overseas capital and boost the quality and regional balance of inbound investment.
The new catalogue lists 1,679 industries (205 more than the 2022 edition). Alongside a nationwide directory, it introduces a separate section highlighting region-specific advantages, offering tailored incentives for investors eyeing strategic areas across the Chinese mainland.
By expanding the list and spotlighting local strengths, authorities hope to steer overseas investment into key sectors and underdeveloped regions, promoting more balanced economic growth across the Chinese mainland.
