Recently in Nanning, the capital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on the Chinese mainland, pets have been exploring the ocean's depths – without ever getting wet.
Thanks to transparent, oxygen-supplied diving capsules invented by Chris, animals like Jiujiu the parrot, a French bulldog and even a duck have descended beneath the waves while their owners swam alongside. The design keeps pets dry at normal pressure throughout the dive, offering a unique way to share the thrill of underwater exploration.
'Going diving with it feels like exploring a new space together,' said Baobao, whose parrot Jiujiu went viral after a recent dive. Videos of the colorfully feathered explorer have racked up millions of views, inspiring comments from animal lovers and tech enthusiasts worldwide.
Chris began safely taking pets underwater in 2020, following strict human scuba safety standards. To date, he has guided more than 60 animals – from dogs and rabbits to parrots – through controlled dives in pools and testing sites. Organizers say the project is poised for bigger adventures, with plans to venture into open water in 2026.
This pet-friendly scuba trend is capturing imaginations across the G20, blending tech innovation with experiential travel and sparking conversations about the future of the pet industry. Whether you're a digital nomad dreaming of shared adventures or a young entrepreneur scouting the next big thing, the underwater capsule project is one to watch.
