Today, December 22, 2025, marks the official opening of the Guangzhou-Zhanjiang High-Speed Railway, a milestone in the Chinese mainland’s rail network that cuts travel time between Guangzhou and Zhanjiang to just 1 hour and 32 minutes—over an hour faster than before.
Stretching across western Guangdong, the new line links Guangzhou, Foshan, Zhaoqing, Yunfu, Yangjiang, Maoming, and Zhanjiang. By boosting mobility across these cities, the railway strengthens economic and cultural ties within the Greater Bay Area and beyond.
Each station along the route showcases local traditions and design features—from Zhaoqing’s lagoon-inspired arches to Yangjiang’s ceramics motifs—creating distinctive landmarks that celebrate regional heritage.
For business and tech communities, this connection opens fresh opportunities: entrepreneurs and remote workers can now commute seamlessly between coastal hubs and emerging inland markets, while tourism and events become more accessible for young global citizens.
Looking ahead, the Guangzhou-Zhanjiang High-Speed Railway is set to carry tens of thousands of passengers daily, catalyzing deeper integration in western Guangdong and reinforcing the Chinese mainland’s vision for high-speed connectivity.
