This weekend (December 12 6 13), the Chinese mainland will experience a cold wave, with temperatures in the central and eastern regions expected to fall by 6 to 10°C. In some areas, the drop could exceed 12°C, marking the coldest stretch in months.
On Friday morning, the National Meteorological Center issued blue warnings for the cold wave, heavy snow and strong winds.
As the cold front moves through, regions along the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River and areas north of it will see their lowest temperatures in the past six months.
